As plans progress for the Evergreen Public Schools Health and BioScience Academy, BergerABAM staff will facilitate the third in a series of public meetings on Monday, 9 May. This will be the final update and question and answer session with neighbors before construction begins this summer for the new academy at Northeast Ninth Street and 92nd Avenue. Residents of the North Garrison Heights neighborhood are particularly welcome to attend the meeting that will start at 6:30 p.m. at Marrion Elementary School, 10119 Northeast 14th Street, Vancouver, Washington.
Students at the new Academy will explore high-demand medical field careers in addition to taking the normal high school courses. Although the school eventually will house about 500 students in grades 9 through 12, it will open with only freshmen and sophomores.
BergerABAM has helped Evergreen Public Schools and neighbors work through potential traffic and visual impacts. To minimize traffic, students will not be allowed to drive to the academy; instead, a shuttle bus will transport students to and from the Academy. Parking for staff and visitors will be located north and west of the building and will be buffered by trees and shrubs.
