VAQ Flight Trainer Building 2593

Whidbey Island, Washington

When a small earthquake rocked the VAQ Trainer Building 2593 at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, noticeable swaying and widening of the cracks in the floors and walls of the building were evident. Classified as a critical facility necessary to support the continuing qualification of military pilots, seismic upgrades were required without disruption to operations. Through innovative design techniques, BergerABAM provided the needed seismic retrofits with minimal interior construction and disruptions to training missions.
