Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility

Bainbridge Island, Washington

Constructed circa 1943, the Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility is an essential multi-use facility for the Washington State Ferries. Due to stringent seismic evaluation criteria and the interaction between the building superstructure and the building pier substructure, numerous structural deficiencies were identified that required retrofit throughout the building. BergerABAM developed an innovative design concept that reduced the need for retrofit of individual deficient elements throughout the building, minimizing interruptions and downtime to facility occupants during construction.
