Seattle, Washington
A cast-in-place, single-box girder was used for the entire length of the elevated guideway to provide an aesthetically pleasing structure for the neighborhood. The uniquely designed elevated transit station preserves the nature and style of this classic neighborhood and is a visible gateway into southeast Seattle.
The architectural intent for the Mount Baker Station project was to adopt the character and environment of its surrounding areas and incorporate this individuality into the architectural vision. The station is encased in glass, promoting natural light in a timeless quality, with significant brick, concrete, and steel accents.
