Ferry Terminal Dolphin Improvement Program

Seattle, Washington

BergerABAM developed concepts for a new dolphin system to replace existing timber pile dolphin structures at the system's many ferry terminals on Puget Sound. The change was needed to accommodate more desirable maintenance characteristics and handle loads generated by new ferries.

The new dolphin system's behavior characteristics and low maintenance have made the dolphins a huge success with the ferry vessel masters and terminal design and maintenance staff. The dolphins are now a standard element for ferry terminal design and are used throughout the ferry system's terminals.
