Port Subarea Plan and Environmental Impact Statement

Vancouver, Washington

Columbia Gateway, owned by the Port of Vancouver, is nearly 1,100 acres on the Columbia River and is the single remaining industrial-zoned parcel of significant size in the Portland metropolitan area. The Port asked BergerABAM to provide State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) compliance and a subarea plan for viable site development and to comply with federal, state, and local permitting requirements. The firm developed the draft environmental impact statement, the subarea plan, and the various environmental studies necessary for developing the area. Staff also coordinated the work of the subcontractor teams, devised and performed innovative wetland and wildlife studies, and developed communications to inform the public of project activities. As part of a team now providing consultant services for National Environmental Policy Act compliance, BergerABAM is responsible for project coordination, consistency with SEPA, and local permitting.
