East-West Transportation Corridor Study

Yakima County, Washington

BergerABAM provided a range of public involvement and outreach services for the initial planning stage of this multiyear Yakima County project that ultimately will select a preferred alternative for a new highway in suburban Yakima. All potential alignments will have some level of impact on private properties, including parcels occupied by residents and a low-income mobile home park. BergerABAM public involvement staff organized two open houses attended by more than 200 people, produced meeting summaries, and compiled comments from attendees, in addition to writing and designing two project information mailers printed in English and Spanish to meet environmental justice requirements. BergerABAM staff also designed and published a special interactive project website where interested stakeholders can access more information, respond to an online questionnaire, interact with project managers, and track work progress.
