Columbia Park West Master Plan

Richland and Kennewick, Washington

BergerABAM led a project team that worked with the cities of Richland and Kennewick to develop a park master plan for a 146-acre unimproved open space along the Columbia River. The site, which straddles the two cities, has public parks located on its west and east ends. The proposed project will tie the existing improved city parks together and create a much larger regional community park. BergerABAM led public involvement and natural resource assessment and permitting and provided landscape design consultation for the final park design. The project required an extensive public outreach effort with residents and affected stakeholders to identify the desired uses for the property and attempt to arrive at a design program that will provide the greatest public benefit and achieve the greatest likelihood of funding and implementation.
