Manchester Resort Grand Hyatt

San Diego, California

With the addition of a 34-story tower to an existing tower at the hotel, the Manchester Resort Grand Hyatt in San Diego is one of the largest and tallest waterfront hotels on the West Coast. Located on 3.29 acres adjacent to Seaport Village and west of the existing hotel, the tower expansion features an additional 750 guest rooms and a limestone-colored exterior finish system complementing the existing tower. A central lobby, ballroom, and exhibit hall connect the two towers. The tower’s main entrance is highlighted by imported dimensional stone from ground level to the vaulted metal roof, which serves as the midpoint of the towers. The structural system consists of concrete shearwall around the elevator core complemented with a six-story end x-bracing system and special moment frames.
