Chelan Upper Valley Regional Trails Plan

Leavenworth, Washington

BergerABAM worked with a steering committee and the community to develop a regional trails plan for the upper valley area of the Wenatchee River in the North Cascades. This planning and community involvement effort integrated a number of existing planning efforts, identified new opportunities for connectivity, and created a single regional trails plan. The plan incorporated multiple nonmotorized modes of four-season travel, whether for recreation or commuting, by pedestrians, bicyclists, equestrians, and cross-country skiers. Community involvement included stakeholder interviews, steering committee meetings, public meetings, and a project web page. The project received an APA-PAW Honorable Mention for Transportation Plans in 2009 for its multistakeholder collaboration in the development of a regional connection for users of nonmotorized transportation.
